As an investor in seed-to-early-stage biotechs, I tend to view grants as an offset to the high burden placed on startups by regulatory hurdles. Increasing the former, reducing the latter or both, improves health care. Moreover, the government's lifting of its regulatory hand tends to amplify the impact of its own grants.
Fortunately, we've seen the federal government do the latter for immediate effect during our virus experience. I also expect increased grant funding for vaccines, etc. assuming the House of Representatives cooperates.
