The debate here on whether to "shut down" or "open up" breaks down along (predictable) ideological lines. On the one hand, we have the right-wing Trumpsters like "caravon," "jbog," "Grthz," "RNinsider," et.al. and "Vinmantoo" and "Biowatch" et. al. standing up for the liberal consensus.

The "scientific" data is also read along, predictably, ideological lines.

I think it's safe to say that elements of science are not conflicting here,
but ideologies are in conflict.

Dew probably doesn't want a discussion of what these competing ideologies are all about, but let's not pretend that this is a "scientific" discussion.
