Here is an example of another company that was held responsible for a rumor out on the marketplace:
NIO is traded on the NYSE. They are a Chinese company that makes electric vehicles.
On January 15, a few news articles came out that said that NIO had received a large amount of funding. The stock price jumped. But the stock was halted (not suspended) on that day for about an hour, and the NYSE contacted the company about the rumor.
Later that day, the company came out with an announcement about what happened:
