Do you recall how long it took for mining companies to adopt cyanide leaching/Merrill-Crowe processing? Or again to activated carbon, electrowinning?

Any new technique, even a major improvement to an old one, is usually adopted very slowly at first. Mining companies have a MAJOR capital investment in the "current" method, whatever it is. That makes them resist change, even if it kills them. A good example of that, even though it isn't mining, just capital intensive, is Ma Bell. It was POTS or nothing...until MCI, et al, ate their lunch.
