Common sense says..

some folks who get COVID-19 deteriorate quickly which seems to be linked to an immune system that over reacts to the virus..

what other "ailments" have a similar root cause (immune system over reacting).. and how are those ailments treated?

I'm guessing the answer will be somewhere down this logical path.
