There's nothing "holy" about it. It is simply the meaning of the term. "Private" means out of public view. "Private Messages" are messages that are not intended for public viewing. The decision to characterize a message as "private" must, by it's nature, be made by the sender. There are no circumstances under which the receiver is justified in publishing information transmitted in private.
If you received a private message that offends you, iHub has given you a means of preventing the writer from sending you messages in the future. Since you must receive an offensive message to know that it is, indeed, offensive, and since iHub can not and should not judge the character of messages transmitted via its facilities, the ability to block future messages from the same sender is a reasonable and proper protection for iHub users.
