The most important things to keep in mind:

1. The announcement is restrained, highly appropriate not to antagonize regulators with extravagant claims.

2. The results were very promising, given that the patients were extremely sick.

3. With these sort of effects, one can surmise that if given earlier in the course of the disease, the benefit will be dramatic (before organ failure starts!).
