Doesn't the # of shares on the ask change daily. Just because 1 billion shares are being sold one day and 1 million the next it doesn't mean 999,000,000 million shares sold it means that the person selling that 1 billion canceled their order. Go look at other active stocks. Look at level 2 orders. You can see how many people are playing and the volume plus bid and ask price.
