It will help protect American jobs at this time, maybe that's not important to you?

It will also increase consumption of american oil instead of overseas. While it may not be a total positive impact to the larger domestic oil companies, it will help the shale industry if they decide to go the tariff route.

Personally i don't think it will come to this. Over the weekend, Iraq, Kuwait, Norway, Canada and Mexico have all said they support a deal and/or reduce their production.
