the only way to win a war is with massive casulties-- if the Americans went in and levelled Bahgdad and a few other Sunni strongholds there would of been a Mideast peace agreement.

The duration of the Iraq occupation has exceeded that of WW2, but WW2 ended abruptly with mushroom clouds.

I seriously doubt that the Americans will resort to nukes-- considering the next president will probably be a democrat.
