Inspired PLC CEO Mark Dickinson breaks down FY24 highlights, net zero strategy

Inspired PLC (AIM:INSE) chief executive Mark Dickinson takes Proactive's Stephen Gunnion through the company's 2024 financial results, its ongoing mission to help clients reach net zero, and the outlook for 2025. Dickinson provided an overview of the group’s four complementary divisions: software, assurance, ESG, and optimisation. These work together to help Inspired’s B2B clients manage energy costs, comply with ESG reporting obligations, and implement real carbon reduction strategies. “The backdrop continues to be increasingly favourable for Inspired as we help those clients navigate their way through those challenges,” Dickinson said, citing continuing demand despite lower energy prices. FY24 was a year focused on strengthening the balance sheet. Dickinson said the company eliminated all contingent consideration liabilities, raised capital, and reduced net leverage from 2.59x to 1.47x adjusted EBITDA—giving the business a firmer platform for growth. The company’s non-financial KPIs also moved in a positive direction, with cross-selling increasing and more than 50% of optimisation clients returning for additional services. Inspired is now serving 420 clients with optimisation support. Looking ahead, Dickinson said trading in 2025 started in line with expectations, and the business is progressing well on previously delayed projects. He remains optimistic about the pipeline and demand drivers, particularly in energy conservation, ESG compliance, and net zero support. Switch Metals eyes fast-track tantalum output in Côte d'Ivoire as it lists on AIM

Switch Metals Plc (AIM:SWT) CEO Karl Akueson talked with Proactive's Stephen Gunnion about the company’s listing on London’s AIM market and its focus on developing tantalum projects in Côte d'Ivoire. Akueson explained that Switch Metals, a private company he founded, was acquired through a reverse takeover by Oneiro Energy. The company's flagship Issia project hosts tantalum mineralisation, including occurrences of coltan at surface. According to Akueson, this provides an opportunity for near-term production from shallow deposits, with the company aiming to reach output within the next two years. He described tantalum as “a very strategic technology metal… in our mobile phones, laptops, plasma TV, everything we use daily,” highlighting its importance and rarity. Akueson emphasised that 60% of the global supply currently comes from the DRC and Rwanda, and Switch Metals aims to become a significant alternative source. Discussing the decision to list in the UK, Akueson pointed to his personal background and the UK’s long-standing understanding of African production. Element 25 delivers positive Tokyo Bay Scoping Study

Element 25 managing director Justin Brown talked with Proactive about the recent completion of the Tokyo Bay HPMSM Facility Scoping Study in partnership with Nissin Chemical Corporation. The company said the results of the scoping study were positive enough to justify advancing the project to the pre-feasibility stage. Brown explained that the Tokyo Bay site offers unique advantages, including a co-located sulfuric acid plant, deepwater port access, and supporting infrastructure critical for high-purity manganese sulfate production. “We took our learnings from the detailed work we’ve done in Louisiana… and converted them to a Japanese setting,” Brown said. He also noted that Japan's regulatory and geopolitical environment makes it an ideal location for refining and supplying the local battery market. Looking ahead, Brown confirmed that Element 25 and Nissin Chemical will conduct deeper engineering and cost analysis under their existing MOU, with a final investment decision targeted for June 2026. The next milestone will be the pre-feasibility study, expected later this year. Brown also discussed how the Tokyo Bay project fits into the company’s broader “design one, build many” strategy, which aims to establish a global network of refineries fed by ethically sourced manganese from Element 25’s Butcherbird mine. Solvonis Therapeutics engages PharmaVentures to support key AUD assets

Solvonis Therapeutics PLC (LSE:SVNS) CEO Anthony Tennyson talked with Proactive about the company's strategic move to commercialise two clinical-stage assets targeting alcohol use disorder (AUD). Tennyson explained that Solvonis has engaged PharmaVentures to support valuation and potential out-licensing for two lead programs—AWKN-001 and AWKN-002. PharmaVentures was chosen based on its three-decade track record in biopharma M&A advisory, with over 1,000 deals completed. Tennyson noted, “We’ve selected them for three reasons: their expertise, their experience, and their reach.” The two assets originated from Solvonis's planned acquisition of Awakn Life Sciences, a transaction expected to be completed in the second quarter. AWKN-001, now in Phase 3 trials, targets severe AUD in the UK and EU. PharmaVentures estimates the asset could yield around £60 million in upfront and milestone payments, plus significant double-digit royalties. AWKN-002, focused on moderate to severe AUD in the US, is in Phase 2B planning. This program could generate approximately £150 million, based on comparable transactions. Tennyson emphasised the unmet medical need, citing a 75% relapse rate within a year for current AUD treatments. “That represents a significant commercial opportunity for Solvonis,” he said.
