Mondelez raises wages by $2 per hour, will hire 1,000 workers

Mondelez International Inc. (MDLZ) has raised pay by $2 per hour from Monday through May 2 for distribution, manufacturing and sales workers. Sales representatives will also get a bonus of $125 per week. The changes affect 10,000 workers. Any workers impacted by the coronavirus outbreak will receive two additional weeks of paid leave. The food company plans to add 1,000 distribution and sales workers to the roster "in the coming months." Mondelez(MDLZ) shares are up 3.5% in Tuesday premarket trading, but are down 14.7% over the last year. The S&P 500 index has dropped 20.1% for the past 12 months.
