The Taiwan Greater China Fund is a diversified, closed-end investment company which trades on the NYSE under the ticker symbol “TFC”. The investment strategy of the Fund is to capitalize on growth in China through investments in Taiwan Stock Exchange-traded companies which derive or are expected to derive a substantial portion of their revenues from exports to or operations in mainland China.

Presenter

Steve Champion is CEO, President and Portfolio Manager for the Taiwan Greater China Fund. His experience encompasses over 16 years as a resident in Greater China, 14 of which were spent in Taiwan. His time in Taiwan included 6 years as President and CEO of International Investment Trust Company, the country’s oldest mutual fund management company. He also directly managed The R.O.C. Taiwan Fund (established in 1983 and the predecessor to the Taiwan Greater China Fund). In 2004, Champion returned to the re-structured Taiwan Greater China Fund with the objective of investing primarily in Taiwan-listed companies that have a significant business presence in China.

Champion is the author of “The Great Taiwan Bubble” (Pacific View Press, 1998) and “Un-cooking the books in Taiwan,” published in the Op-Ed pages of The Asian Wall Street Journal.
