MARLBORO, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 7, 2003--Media 100 Inc. (NASDAQ: MDEA - News), a leading provider of advanced media systems, today announced it has signed a distribution agreement with NGC Corporation of Japan to market, sell and support the Company's 844/X real-time, online vertical editing system. NGC, with offices in Tokyo and Osaka, is Japan's largest reseller of video systems and graphics software from companies such as Discreet, a division of Autodesk; Alias, a division of Silicon Graphics; and Pinnacle.
"NGC has been selling advanced digital video, visual effects, and graphics systems and software for 15 years," said Masahiko Kase, President of NGC. "When we first saw the editing-compositing integration and speed of compositing of 844/X, supported by a 10-bit quality architecture, we knew that this new system would be a perfect fit for our company. Especially with HD also coming, NGC can use 844/X to penetrate the broader professional editing and compositing market in Japan."

"NGC has extensive experience selling and supporting advanced media solutions. They are a strong partner and will help us increase sales of 844/X in Japan."

NGC plans to offer certified 844/X training, providing hands-on instruction for new customers as well as freelance editors. NGC also plans to exhibit 844/X, including the new Version 2.0 software release, XBLUR and HDX Technology, at InterBEE, Japan's largest international broadcast equipment tradeshow, in November. The company has a demonstration system installed at its headquarters in Tokyo and plans to install a second demonstration unit in Osaka.
