If this goes to a clinical trial it will be fast tracked within months. It is an existing drug with a long history and most side effects known. If it is useful they will figure it out soon. For instance, it usually takes a couple of months to get a pre-IND meeting. If this is a serious proposal it won't take that long. It doesn't appear to be a total cure but many people could potentially benefit. I think it is a good play as long as you don't go crazy buying shares. These are boom or bust stocks and if you can't stomach the ups and downs you should be in a mutual fund.
