You can just hold your shares tight because those tricks only work when the companies are small, the gyrations in stock price have nothing to do with the underlying business. Once a stock is issued it does not serve the company any more. If the business is good at using the issue price to build the company on revenue rather than relying on paying for stuff with shares the share price could be a nickel or a hundred dollars and the business just keeps going. If it is a crappy business that has to issue shares to keep the lights on the traders make lots of money while investors are left with nothing. Think about it, if you own shares in a good company and bought them for ten cents and the company makes its widget and becomes worth a dollar a share a year later the price you paid does not change whether the share price went up or down many cents during that time. I guess it depends if you are an investor or a trader.
