First of all, we should note that AMD will pump up the frequency of HyperTransport bus to 1000MHz from current 800MHz next year. This will result in 2000Mb/s transfer speed in each direction

Well that will be great for two Opterons talking to each
other in an MP system but is there any suggestion that
AMD's chipset partners will be able to keep up? Considering
that Nvidia supposedly can't even handle 800 MHz and how
much trouble Athlon chipset makers had with much lower data
rates on the point to point EV6 bus this might be all for
naught for most AMD64 users.
