no i have no idea what you’re talking about. no appraisal would mention “goodwill.” they might value customer lists, proprietary information or intellectual property but not goodwill. goodwill only exists after an acquisition - it cannot be self-created. it is merely the amount paid above and beyond the value of underlying assets. if that is the case then how would goodwill be appraised? it’s merely an accounting plug to some extent but it means you bought a company with a value greater than its underlying pieces. that’s it. the appraiser might value a company by beginning at a valuation of underlying assets and look at the other things that make the company valuable but they won’t call it goodwill.
