Information on Superhero Kindergarten

At the MIPCOM - The World's Entertainment Content Market

12-15 October 2020, Palais des Festivals, Cannes, France

Superhero Kindergarten world premiered and launched sales of the show at MIPCOM's children's programming weekend MIPJr.

Youku and Genius Brands announced the joint IP owner and global co-producer and development of the series that had been ongoing, as it was reported through various Chinese news organizations at the time of the announcement.

Why the US Media didn't report more than a few lines saying "Alibaba's Youku signs on to Superhero Kindergarten" it didn't even tell the true story, not that they tried not to, just that they made it sound as if they met and signed a deal and now they will go forward, where as in the Chinese media the exact opposite was the case.

I don't know, maybe for the US media it didn't rate as worthy (A Kardashian must have gotten pregnant or something that day), but it obviously did and was reported and treated as such in the Chinese media.

The fellow in the investor video teaser below is Aaron Liao who has/had been working on the project prior to the announcement at Cannes.

"According to reports, Youku was deeply involved in the planning and development of "Stan Lee's Superhero Kindergarten". For example, in the character image and plot design, "Stan Lee's Superhero Kindergarten" combined with Youku's suggestions and joined Orient elements, and set a protagonist to come from China."

"Taking "Stan Lee's Superhero Kindergarten" as an example, not only did you add an oriental character, Youku found that there was a big difference between China and foreign countries in the kindergarten model when the script was first obtained, and the teaching system was also different."

So prior to the announcement the work together had been ongoing, they already had an initial script that after receiving it Youku had suggestions and that they were adapted.

This was all before Cannes, why the US media did not do a better job reporting than the Chinese media, like I said I haven't a clue.

On IMBd Pro it has that casting was completed October 21st 2019 filming resumed shortly thereafter.

The CEO also reported in May in an interview that the cartoon series would be airing fall 2020 but an exact date had not been set.

That is all the information that has been reported in the US and China that I have found thus far. I am sure we will hear more in the near future as it has been four months since these events took place. I check the Chinese news on a daily basis as something may be reported there before it does here even by a day.

I haven't found anything about just when Youku and Genius started working together on it, when the script was initially received by Youku, when the suggestions were made and adapted, but it is obvious it happened well before October when it was announced they were/had been working together. It could have been prior to Comicon in July, but, if the article from the interviews in China are to be believed it was from the outset.

Peace out.
