Judge Gives Windstream Until April For Restructuring Plan -- Market Talk
A bankruptcy judge gives Windstream Holdings until April to file a restructuring plan. The rural broadband provider which filed for bankruptcy in February had argued it needed more time--until June--to see the outcome of its lawsuit against Uniti Group, the company which provides the broadband network Windstream uses, before formulating a plan. Windstream has sued Uniti seeking to stop making $54M in monthly rent payments to the company. Windstream's relationship with Uniti is critical to its operations, and the two companies depend on each other, with Windstream supplying more than two-thirds of Uniti's revenue in exchange for access to fiber and copper networks across the US. A trial for Windstream's lawsuit against Uniti is set to start in early March.
