Is it poop in the vein on shrimp?
“Vein” is just a smart euphemism—good work, shrimp-marketing people—for the shrimp's lower digestive tract, meaning the vein is filled with, ahem, waste. ... Other experts I talked to say you might not be able to taste the vein depending on the shrimp's size.

A shrimps heart is located on its head. Where do most shrimp come from?
Shrimp is the most popular seafood in the United States, but only a tiny fraction of that comes from domestic sources. Ninety percent of the shrimp we eat is imported, and almost all of that comes from farms in Southeast Asia and Central America.

What Does Leviticus 11:9-10 Tell Us About Eating Shellfish? ... You shall regard them as detestable; you shall not eat any of their flesh, and you shall detest their carcasses. Everything in the waters that has not fins and scales is detestable to you.”
