Excerpt:

This year’s theme which is “Enhancing Innovations, Technology, Diversification & Attracting Funding to Optimize Oil/Gas Value Chains” is geared to meet the current market need and aspirations of various national and indigenous companies in the region for growth and remain successful in business operations.

Some of the key focal areas include optimization and advances in upstream, midstream, downstream, upcoming licensing rounds and opportunities in Nigeria, Senegal, Gambia, AGC – Guinea Bissau, Ghana and others. It also entails strategies for creating balance for competitiveness between national oil companies and international companies as an imperative for growth. Other areas are developments in Gas and LNG market in the region, carbon print and climate change initiatives, project funding, past successes, current status and future perspectives of West African E & P opportunities, petroleum policies and corporate social responsibility activities will be discussed. Also, a novel addition is the women in energy panel discussion that will hinge on women leadership role in the industry, their perspectives on growth and ensuring capacity building in the industry.

According to Sunny Oputa, CEO of Energy & Corporate Africa, since attracting funding has become a significant problem for indigenous companies in the region, enhancing FDI and stopping divestment of assets by mega oil companies have also become a big challenge to some national oil companies, hosting a conference of this nature in Houston, the energy capital of the world to reach out to all global stakeholders have become imperative for success.
