Because unlike the common which the government owns 80% of and can force actions like reverse splits and dividend reductions. the preferred are held privately and 2/3 of these holders have to vote for a conversion. with many of them at 6% or better yields before a common dividend is paid, I think a lot of people may hold on for income. 6% will be hard to come by after the Trump recession. The poor GDP growth just does not support asset appreciation levels of today. any asset class
