Problem is - again - even IF there is a viable and useful ligand type for coronaviruses that NNVC can manufacture to scale sufficient to use to treat the Wuhan virus in people,....

NNVC would have to do at least preliminary effectiveness studies in an animal model of some kind. That takes time, money, and focus. We're talking at minimum months to get the job done.

NNVC would have to do toxicity testing on some model system to ensure that it's a safe thing to give to people prior to anybody letting them start a clinical trial of any kind. That takes more time, money and focus. We're talking about an additional minimum number of months, perhaps longer, to get the job done.

NNVC would have to actually develop an IND application or the equivalent of one overseas, and then get a Phase I/II set of trials of the potential drug underway. This is additional time, money and focus,...

NNVC has a limited staff, budget, resources, and is currently (at least supposed to be) working on getting their Herpes-virus targeting topical drug into a Phase I trial.

SO - NNVC is not going to announce that they have "a drug for coronaviruses" anytime in the near future.
