"Next, mulberry is affected by cold. I suspect that the leaves could be dryer and tougher in the winter than when the trees are in the growing season. Prodigy likely got a hold of a batch of poor-quality mulberry that put the silkworms in a stressful situation."

nope..dont see it..how much is there to really think about?...its going to be cold so you turn up the heat...and worms gotta have food in winter just like every other time of the year...

did kim run out of leaves?...I doubt it...the guy raised a batch of worms and instead of harvesting them, he kept raising them so he could have a bigger yield...did someone suddenly realize the cupboard was bare and they all starved to death?...I kinda doubt that...

"the leading developer of spider silk based fibers, announced that it has implemented new quality assurance management and production procedures at Prodigy Textiles, the Company’s Vietnamese subsidiary, based on lessons learned from its production rollout."

this is where the problem was...cold, hot or just right wont make a difference if you have problems here...and planting more trees wont solve these problems either...

"The Company embarked on an aggressive winter production rollout to accommodate urgent requests for materials from specific collaboration partners and potential customers."

"urgent requests"?...sounds to me like Milliken wants polartec to stop letting kblb yank their chain and polartec needed something....NOW

but thats just one scenario..it could be that Milliken is more than happy to see the company they bought continue collaborating with kblb year after year after year with nothing to show for it..

as I recall, many believed that the army would just continue to give kblb extension after extension no matter what...

well it turns out, as common sense would dictate, that there was in fact a limit as I suggested..

"But what about humidity?"

hmmm..thats a tough one...the rooms don't seem to be all that big...how about spending 25 bucks on a humidifier and use it on and off as needed?...

the cold, humidity etc shouldn't be big problems to overcome in an enclosed environment...these issues are problems in open air situations the way the Vietnamese normally do it...
