The TV sit com Happy Days often featured a scene with Richie Cunningham singing the lyrics to Blueberry Hill by Antoine 'Fats' Domino. A New Orleans native, Domino spoke Creole French before he spoke English. He kept a simple residence in New Orleans' Ninth Ward until its was flooded by Hurricane Katrina in 2007. He moved to a suburb. He died 10 years later. The song itself was published in 1940, music by Vincent Rose, lyrics by Larry Stock and Al Lewis. Several Big Band orchestras recorded versions of it the same year. Louis Armstrong recorded a version in 1949. But it was Fats Domino version, recorded in 1956, that made it a rock n roll standard. Rolling Stone ranks it Number 82 on its list of 500 Most Famous Songs.
