The old timers take on the Intel/AMD rivalry :
A. AMD only makes money when it executes will and Intel fumbles.
B. When both Intel and AMD execute well AMD is marginally unprofitable.
C. When Intel executes well and AMD fumbles AMD gets to the verge of bankruptcy and is only saved by massive restructuring of its assets, and selling of most of its assets.

So Intel fumbled on the 10nm technology which led to the capacity crunch, allowing AMD to finally be profitable . As the 10 nm technology and the capacity issues fade away, AMD will go back to being marginally unprofitable if history repeats itself.
