Lucy, I think your email must have done the trick..here is KF's reply to my request for an estimate of tiles to do a straight line 2000 sq ft home. I think Howard said the margin was $1.00 per tile, that gives an idea of a typical return per house about which I was curious. I'm sure the brains on this board might do more with these figures...

-Sorry for the delay here in answering. I don't check this email every day and have been busy. You can send me email at either info@floridarooftiles.com or fwreebee@verizon.net and I check them every day.

To answer your question about a 2000 square foot ranch style home with straight roof and I am asumming that it is a 4 x 12 pitch, You would need 1760 tile to do the job. Now you would also need the accessories meaning ridge tile and end cap tiles to finish the job.

The way I figured your area is there are 80 tile per square or 10 x 10 area. So you would take 80 x 20 = 1600 but you have to add 10% for the pitch so that gives you the 1760 tiles.

To figure how many ridge tile is needed figure the length of the ridge and divide by 8 inches to arrive at the number need to do the ridge. You also need two ridge end caps and you will need left and right end caps for the edges of the roof. Again figure the total running footage of the eves and divide by 8 inches to arrive at the number of tile needed for the job.

I hope this helps you. What area do you live? Are you in Florida? If so and you need an estimate just let me know and I can get that done for you.

That's what I am here for.

Kind Regards,

Bill Reese
