From doing further due diligence on Joe Candito... Joe Candito is the Subway Founder for the Subway $5 footlong promotion that was very successful for Subway:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Subway_$5_footlong_promotion
The Subway $5 footlong promotion is a promotion by the fast food restaurant chain Subway, which was launched in the United States in 2008 by offering footlong (30 cm) submarine sandwiches for US$5, equivalent to $5.82 in 2018. Coinciding with the Great Recession, the promotion was very successful for the chain, spurring competitors to make similar moves to cut prices to attract customers. The promotion also helped start an ongoing trend of round price points on consumer goods.

Joseph Candito, Co-Founder of PIZZA PARTNERS and President of Subway SW Regional Developing Inc., formerly a 20-year Development Agent with Subway® owning/operating 21 Subway Franchised stores and overseeing 143 Subway Franchisees and stores states, “At Subway, our advertising and marketing model was a winner. The kiosks have started to take Subways by storm. There are 44 Subways using them across the nation and they're now available at some restaurants in the United Kingdom, New Zealand and Australia, said Dave Hubbard, chief marketing officer for Pro-Tech, the Atlanta-based manufacturer of the computer-based ordering system. More kiosks are in the works.

"Kiosks are kind of a new emerging technology that is coming into restaurants, and into business applications," Hubbard said. …

… "We hope to increase business," said Joe Candito, president of Subway Southwest Florida Regional Development Inc. "It's going to help us serve our customers more efficiently."

Other restaurants using the machines have reported sales increases of 15 to 40 percent. …

… The machines can take orders in English and Spanish. French and German soon will be added, Candito said. …
