In Canada it is a tax free savings account.....we can put in 6,000 a year, unused carries over, any withdrawals and the allocation is returned to you the following year, even a withdrawal from a win gets accounted for. Any earnings do not get taxed.

We have had this allowance for the past 11 years I believe now. It’s a nice addition to our RRSP which is similar to the US 401 K.
