I’ve read the book. It was a tough read. The main character and protagonist Jim Kennedy tells his life stories through the author. In his own words and his associates, Jim Kennedy is presented as a liar, a cheat, a thief, greedy and violent. One reoccurring theme is that poor little rich boy Jim always knows what is right and everyone else is wrong. The book is full of Jim’s encounters with people who soon dislike him and do him wrong. I found it interesting that even his own family disliked him so much.

As I remember it where Molycorp entered the picture was when Jim Kennedy decided he wanted to become a Mark Smith wanna-be and start his own rare earth mine. He had no mining background or any relevant experience and failed miserably. Of course his failure wasn’t his fault, it was Mark’s strong following on Wall street and Washington and Jim Sims constant badmouthing of him in Washington that caused his spectacular failure.

Molycorp was one of many boogie men that kept Jim from succeeding in his many misadventures. As I read Jim Kennedy’s theories about Molycorp misgivings and Jim Kennedy associates describing Jim’s rants (their word not mine) about Molycorp I kept thinking about this boards main antagonist and his irrational fears about the NioCorp management team.

One of Jim Kennedy’s associates named Todaro seemed familiar.

By the way I bought the book in digital form. I didn’t know anyone except homeless people and druggies still use public libraries.
