January is the large Put position. It is then that the warrant holders convert and cover the short. So that month we can see that big volume and price move up. The warrant holders will sell their converted shares into the volume frenzy to cover the conversion price and hold the remaining shares or sell the remaining shares contingent on their belief of FDA approval.
The naked shorts can cover anytime before Jan 20 depending on their appetite.
