Well Spanish galleons are OFF LIMITS per Spain........

They won a lower court case year's ago and the Supreme's upheld it in 2001.

The day after the ruling Spain released this comment.

The Spanish ambassador in Washington, Javier Ruperez, said yesterday the ruling affected Spain's claims to more than 250 Spanish vessels sunk off the coasts of America. The Madrid government would examine each wreck "case by case".

He said: "It is an important legal victory which will have many great repercussions in assuring that sunken ships revert to belonging to Spanish heritage."

BTW....guess what came out a few hours ago? Nothing has changed since that statement from 2001.

Spain normally seeks only to preserve wrecks, not to recover lost treasure - unless commercial hunters try to raid shipwrecks to take away the gold, silver or other valuables.
