market manipulation is real, but it's kind of an ambiguous term. Is trading with huge 'fake' bids market manipulation? Is bashing market manipulation? Is pumping market manipulation?

You could argue that all of that a form of market manipulation. And some of it might be illegal, but it's just not monitored and if there are laws, they aren't enforced.
