If I understand libel cases, you have to prove economic loss of some sort in order to recover damages of some sort. Calling poeple names isn't necessarily libel, and if it is true, then it is not libel, or if it is untrue and yet nobody in their right mind should beleive the statement, then it may or may not be libel (looking at a case where the owner of penthouse made fun of a rather prominent preacher).
