Sent this to the author of the inquirer piece (joed@inquirer.com). He was grateful for the feedback - and didn't feel he was being courageous (I hope he's right).

Joe, endless thanks for your willingness to begin to expose the public to what may be the biggest financial heist in America. I am a retail investor that bought both Fannie and Freddie common stock in August 2008 right after the government assured everyone that the two firms were adequately capitalized - but then just days later, put them into conservatorship. If you stick with the story and continue your research, you may wind up covering one of the most important financial stories ever. I have held the stock all these years, followed it closely and am deeply saddened to have learned that our own government stole hundreds of billions dollars from US citizens ... in broad daylight. I understand that it may have been necessary to take over Fannie and Freddie and use them to "save" the banking system, but to do so without compensating shareholders, falsely blame the 2008 housing crisis on them and say they needed a bailout was pure and simple theft.

Again, endless thanks for your courage and efforts.
