Raider Nation,

Wow, very insightfull and very true. 30fps is commonly referred to as a false standard in this industry, actually cardiac systems scan at 60 fps and most monitors display the 30 fps at 60hz, with odd & even fields to fill in the gaps, which would flicker if not present. There ofcourse are exceptions like progressive scan, but I didn't want to bore the rest on this site.

Our technology has really no correlation to the 30fps rule. When in the 3D world you are using images obtained to build a construct from the imformation and the more information the better the construct. There is a point when you run into too much data to process in real time as the more data you add the bigger the total image size is. This can be limited by narrowing the field of view or binning your data, both of which are poor tools in the end. Our system can take approximately 96 images in .8 seconds and the potential is much higher but not really necessary. We have found that we can create a construct with as little as 3 images showing full 3D imagery. So the answer to your question is no we are not limited in any way and as we further develop the product we can count on computer speed and memory size and speed increases along the way to offset any new techniques and need for more processing power.

Where my colleages have failed is they don't realize this processing power can be achieved from off the shelf desktops. They are using lazy technics derived from the 80's and 90's mostly using ray tracing and/or point cloud reconstruction technics, which by there very nature are slow and suck up processing power.

The animated Gifs are displaying 36 x4 images and are displayed at 10 ms delay per frame or whatever your bandwidth is capable of.

I am happy to answer questions, just taking a break today watching football and working on my laptop. Don't be upset if I don't respond as fast on other days as I am normally swamped with development.

Great Question and cool answer on your part....
