KBLB's costs are significantly below $300/kilo

I understand that the report that KBLB provided is misleading. Their costs are approximately the same as mundane silk. They have to purchase mulberry leaves and pay for the care and feeding of silkworms, then reel the silk. This can be done for $15 or $20 a kilo. We might spend $25/kilo for our silks.

The $300 was the cost to customers. Only a limited number of applications can bear that price. It's way out of line with other fibers, including carbon fiber.
