Endo International (ENDP) and Mallinckrodt (MNK) have been sued by West Virginia Attorney General Patrick Morrisey in relation to opioid addiction risks.
Two separate suits were filed in Boone County court and are seeking monetary damages.
The lawsuits accuse the companies of contributing "to the opioid crisis by individually engaging in strategic campaigns to deceive prescribers and misrepresent the risks and benefits of opioid painkillers," according to the AG's statement. It said the companies "mischaracterized and failed to disclose the serious risk of addiction, overstated the benefits of chronic opioid therapy and promoted higher dosage amounts without disclosing inherently greater risks."
