A Monk Story,
I heard from a friend, who was there.

Monk is standing in front of the information booth on the lower
level of Grand Central Terminal. A fellow walks up to him and asks
if he knew what track the 20th Century Limited departed from. Monk, impassive, said nothing.
Recognizing him, the questioner then asked "Aren't you Thelonious Monk, the jazz musician?"

Now paying attention to the dude, Monk stated simply and directly, "Track 31."
