I appreciate your perspective and I really hope the people involved are not nefarious like those running Nortel. It was a wildly successful company that was in business for over 100 years as part of Bell Canada’s systems until it was spun off in the 90’s. It had operations world wide most of which is still working today. They had critical components that are still in use today. What Nortel also had was an incredibly shady board of directors who fudged the figures and gave themselves bonuses which they were fired and sued for.
I am not saying it can not happen! I am saying that having a huge framework of operations and not being super big in the balance sheet after being in business for only 5 years is very different than being in business for over 100 years and having shady directors lie on the balance sheet and say they are profitable when they are not. Canopy’s balance sheet has a large loss, the shares to the employees are a large expense which is a calculated risk for organic advertising and will likely not be repeated. The business is hampered by the lack of stores and lagging 2.0 rollout and the fact we are selling something that people still perceive as exciting but evil. Could Canopy become Nortel? Possibly, but the financials have to be much more rosey looking to be in that league. Anything can happen but the only thing the 2 companies have in common at this point is that they are Canadian with an American sugardaddy

Anything I post is my opinion only and subject to change on a whimsy
