The technology supposedly was far enough for production so another mind would be able to keep the call rolling. Not sure Snaper was necessarily essentially needed anymore for development purposes.

I hear his wife has the reigns now. I asked the post Snaper question quite some time ago.

The 40k dump has an explanation now.
