Shorting a stock is not illegal, but you are supposed to "borrow" stock from a willing participant.
Market makers often get naked short positions, but that is part of healthy markets that they support.....they have a certain timeframe cover and get even on their shares.
What we believe is happening in PRED, is that there is a large naked short position, THAT IS NOT BEING COVERED, a trick of naked shorts is to "Swap" shares among themselves so that they can extend the timeframe to cover. Some of the stock action a couple weeks ago, suggested this might have been occuring.
But who knows?
PRED - JUST MAKE THE STOCK PRICE GO UP, THEN THE SHORTS WILL HAVE TO COVER AND GO BANKRUPT. VERY LARGE ORGANIZATIONS HAVE BEEN CAUGHT ON THE WRONG SIDE OF A TRADE. Why risk it in this stock?
I've heard Naked shorts could have over 10 millions shares short, and yes, this would be illegal.
