TIRANA, November 8 / ATA / European Investment Bank (EIB) and Albanian Development Fund (ADF) have signed a 200,000-euro co-operation agreement on technical assistance for the preparation of a regional investment program in the north of Albania.

This is the first step of a broader technical assistance program to be implemented in partnership with the ADF to support the region with a value of up to 3m euros.

Technical assistance will include the Adriatic coastline between Shengjin and Velipoja, the Shkodra lake shore, the Buna river and the Koplik gate in the Albanian Alps, as well as part of the territories of the municipalities of Shkodra, Lezha and Malesia e Madhe.

As part of this collaboration, the EIB will assist the ADF in defining the integrated tourism strategy and urban improvement of the Alps Coast Gate, taking into account the natural assets and potentials of the area, as well as environmental issues.

"By helping to design a public infrastructure investment program based on regional tourism potential and an in-depth analysis of existing infrastructure deficiencies, the Bank will contribute to the development of the untapped potential of northern Albania," said Alessandro Bragonzi, representative of the EIB for Albania, Kosovo and Northern Macedonia.

This partnership illustrates the EIB's support to the Albanian authorities for sustainable development that synthesizes existing plans and sectors and prioritizes strategic investment.

“ADF in its role as a regional development agency through this initiative aims to provide a strategic vision for the sustainable development of the Alps gate that synthesizes existing, sectoral strategies and recent and recent strategic investments. The Albanian Development Fund sees in the EIB an important partner from whom it has received continuous support for many years, to fulfill its mission in support of the objectives of the Albanian government. Through this initiative we intend to build a comprehensive investment program that responds to territorial needs and potentials, through an integrated intervention approach, improving the attractions of this area, promoting the potential of economic generation, investing in people and services and improving public services, ”said Dritan Agolli, ADF Executive Director. / Ag /
