wbmw, by my understanding Intel has a lot of side businesses that are not profitable but do help to sell more of cpu's or sell them at better price. We don't hear anything about Intel trying to get rid of some of its divisions.

Consider just one thing. Intel can squieeze a lot of money from old 0.18 and 0.25 fabs instead of just deprecating the whole stuff. Breaking even would be good enough for that sort of business.
