Why would GS buying claims be a good sign? I would think with distributions nerar and end, holders of debt would like to sell their claims before year end to tax the tax loss, and GS is taking advantage of that to try to make a few bucks of funds yet to be distributed.

What would be good news is if GS was buying the CT claims. Since they are not, one has to ask themselves if they see something in GS buying higher priority claims, why are they not buying the CTs at a much larger discount?
