I'm not so sure. What I'm seeing still looks like it could be serving the company. Rufus as scapegoat misdirects shareholder anger (AGAIN) away from Mike Alexander.

Rufus is basically a reusable driver's side airbag that can be inflated on demand.

Exactly right! The sheep need someone to love and someone to hate. Since the alleged shorts are gone Rufus has become the someone to hate. Tut/Arlitt is a hero because he hired a lawyer (that puts him in the same category with OJ, and Al Capone), and because he hired a PR firm. I've always said that pumpers are easy to please.
