The Day of Persecution

“I have told you these things so that you won’t abandon your faith. For you will be expelled from the synagogues, and the time is coming when those who kill you will think they are doing a holy service for God. This is because they have never known the Father or me. Yes, I’m telling you these things now, so that when they happen, you will remember my warning." ~ John 16:1-4

I am not trying to be a “negative nellie” here, but there is a deep darkness that is encompassing the face of the world – and it is getting darker by the day. The “darkness” has many names, but the name “anti-Christ” or “anti-God” would certainly cover all of the other names. That dark spirit has been alive and well throughout the world for thousands of years, and there are many parts of the world where Christ followers are being martyred daily for their unwillingness to bow down to it. This same spirit is growing in its ability to consume more-and-more souls of the lost and dying in the “free countries” – and it is only a matter of time (short in my opinion) before full-blown persecution of Christ followers will become the norm in every country.

In addition to being concerned for the “lost and dying”, I am almost equally concerned about the “believers" that are struggling with carrying out even the small, daily commands of the Lord for their lives. As Christ followers – if we are struggling with even the minimal amount of obedience to the Lord in our daily walk, then how will we be able to withstand the persecution that is coming straight at us?

If we are to be strong in the Lord when the day of our persecution comes against us, then we must train ourselves to be obedient in the small things first, and then the Lord will slowly increase our strength in Him to be able to handle whatever the darkness of the world throws against us. In order to be ready and willing in the strength of Christ (through the Holy Spirit), we must continue to build on our obedience to Him with each greater command that He gives to us.

Please begin, and/or continue to grow stronger in Christ by being obedient to the small things that He has been laying on your hearts to do – or to stop doing, and be ready for the day of persecution that is quickly approaching.

God bless!
