7,500 watts is adequate for the whole house.


I have a 7.5 KW gas generator just for my submersed well pump. Start-up current takes every bit of it's capacity. (Have the generator in case of wildfires so I can wet the house down. I've learned the power is lost long before the fire arrives.)
