If the broker of a dormant account was unsuccessful in finding the account holder (estate or heir) then eventually the account is turned over the the State Treasury as an unclaimed asset.

Either way, you don’t get to pull these shares out of anything...they are not yours or the company’s and there is no statute of limitations in this case.

They will remain a part of the float.
